So after finals knocked me out of blogging for a couple of weeks, I'm back.
So the Braves bullpen has been good lately. Ridiculously good. They gave up a few runs in the nightcap of the doubleheader. With the possible additions of Smoltz, Soriano and Mike Gonzalez, I'm almost worried about messing up the chmesitry the bullpen has going. Almost. As good as the bullpen has been, if those guys come back and do what they can do, the bullpen could just be SICK.
So with Campillo and Jo Jo pitching pretty well lately, its good to finally see some guys doing their best to pitch themselves into a rotation spot. I like Campillo as a starter because he throws so many different pitches at so many different speeds all for strikes. He's not going to throw a shutout every time out, but I think he can be a 5.
The hitters have had some trouble with consistency, but as its heating up, so are they. Tex is showing signs of life and K-Jo is looking like he's about to go on one of his hot streaks out fo the 7 spot. I'm still really worried about Francouer, who just looks completely lost up there right now. With 7 other guys hitting well, Francouer can take some time to find himself at the plate.
Scary moment at the end Ryan Church tried to break up a double play and just got clobbered by a big Yunel Escobar knee. I'm sure Church has a concussion. Church looked to be way out of the base line and was up pretty high, you jsut have to be careful. I appreciate the hard play, but he was a little too far off, it wasn't a fully clean play. He couldn't have touched the bag and he paid the price. Its sad that it was such a violent hit and I hope he's fine, but there is a reason you don't go in A) that high (he nearly got hit in the head with the throw) and B) that far off the bag.
It would be nice to see the braves pull out at least one more win this series and possibly the 4 game sweep. As much trouble as the mets have seen, they are still right there and if we can launch a major body blow right now, that really really could help come september. I also think it might tear apart what's left of the team's clubhouse.
